A third party verified the work and assessed it as a success. This is the first time free-form butt welding has been automated to a 1 mm class and assessed in Korea.
Sensor, drawing, robot and tool each use their own coordinate frame, and error accumulates at every hop between them. We hold the whole chain within 1 mm. Precision comes from software rather than from the hardware bill, so a single sensor under KRW 500,000 reaches the same figure as an expensive laser unit.
Free-form welding is the last thing to be automated: the shape differs every time and the gaps and steps are never the same. The easy welds are already done by robots.
