Founded in June 2023, LiOps is a robotics AI company building a general-purpose stack for both mobile and industrial robots through its own embodied AI model, RT3D (Robotics-Transformer-3D).
Rather than building robots, LiOps supplies its AI to run on whatever robot is already there — an approach it credits for both cost efficiency and reach. The model runs on premises, so a manufacturer's data never leaves the site, which is part of why shipbuilding and heavy industry have taken an interest.
Co-CEO Park Hee-jun points to the setup labour of reconfiguring zones and sensors at every site as the reason robot solutions cost what they do, and says LiOps built its system to run the same day the robot arrives.
LiOps plans to begin pilots at large shipyards in the first half of next year, widen to smaller shipbuilding suppliers and other manufacturers, and move outward from Asia to Europe, North America and the Middle East. It is also working with Hanwha Ocean on AI for recognising shipbuilding processes.
Park added that the company intends to extend RT3D into painting, polishing and the replacement of hazardous work, proving the stack scales, and to take it abroad.
